Tree Service
Tree work we handle
Tree removal
Dead, dying, storm damaged or simply unwanted trees taken down in sections when space is tight, with the wood and brush cleaned up.
Trimming and pruning
Limbs over the roof, branches rubbing siding, low limbs over the driveway and crowded canopies thinned to let light and air through.
Stump grinding
Stumps ground down below grade so you can replant, reseed or simply mow over the spot again.
Storm cleanup
Broken limbs and downed trees after a nor'easter or summer storm, starting with anything that threatens the house.
Clearance work
Branches cleared back from the house, gutters, sheds and walkways so the next storm has less to work with.
Cleanup after the job
Brush, chips and wood handled the way we agree on in the quote, and the yard raked out before we leave.
Timing
When to schedule tree work on the Cape
Late fall through early spring is a good window for a lot of tree work. The leaves are off, so it is easier to see the structure of the tree, and the ground around the house takes less of a beating.
Hazard trees are a different story. A dead pine leaning toward the house, a split trunk or a hanger caught in the canopy should not wait for the calendar. Reach out as soon as you see it.
Before hurricane season and the winter nor'easters, clearing limbs back from the roof and wires is one of the cheapest ways to avoid storm damage.
Local know-how
What Cape Cod trees are up against
Pitch pine and oak
The Cape is mostly pitch pine and oak. Pines grow tall on shallow roots in sandy soil, which is why they come down in big wind.
Salt and wind
Coastal wind and salt spray stress trees near the water and leave one sided, weakened canopies that are worth checking.
Tight lots
Many Cape homes sit close to the trees. Work near roofs, decks and septic areas has to be planned, not rushed.
Power lines and wetlands
Trees touching power lines are a job for the utility company, and work near wetlands may need your town's conservation commission. We will tell you if either applies.
